Damian Sciano is an electrical engineer with nearly 35 years of diverse experience that spans a large swath of the energy landscape and includes adjunct professor roles at Columbia University and Manhattan College. His expertise encompasses strategic planning including pioneering clean energy initiatives, applying cutting-edge engineering in transmission and distribution, and integrating data into the planning and operation of the energy infrastructure. Beyond his career in energy, Damian volunteered at the Esopus Camps and retreats starting his Sophomore year at Molloy High School and not only met his future wife there but also got to see each of his three daughters volunteer there.  Outside of Esopus, his volunteer work has included participating as Chairman of his local (Long Beach, NY) Planning Advisory Board, several school board advisory committees, New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology (NY-BEST),  and the West Side YMCA Board. Damian brings his blend of industry experience, academic contribution, and passion for giving back to solve today’s MBCE’s evolving landscape and realize the opportunities that he sees everywhere.

Damian recently retired from Con Edison as Director, Statewide Energy Data Integration, after 30 years of experience helping to deliver safe, reliable and clean energy to the citizens of New York City and Westchester. Intermeshed within this timeframe, he also worked developing cogeneration projects for Trigen Energy, working to advance broadband over power line communications with Ambient Energy and teaching as an adjunct professor at Manhattan College (2011) and (2018 to present) Columbia University. Damian is a professional engineer in New York State and holds a Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering from NYU-Polytechnic, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College, an MBA in Finance from Baruch College and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cooper Union. He lives in Long Beach with his wife and three daughters and enjoys surfing, skiing and travel.
