James Sheldon
Buildings and Grounds Committee
Jim Sheldon has been a vital asset to the MBCE-MHVC community for over two decades. He was a member of the Center’s Board from 2013-2018, serving as Secretary and Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, and was essential in the Board’s evolution to the organized and professional body that it is today. Jim joins the Board again in 2020, contributing institutional memory while safeguarding the Center’s traditions and history as new generations emerge.
As the Mid-Hudson Valley Camp’s Volunteer Coordinator since 1997, Jim manages the application process for our summer camp volunteers, including the application mailing, record keeping and background checks, and ensuring each camp is fully staffed and that all Marist schools have representation.
Currently, Jim is a Science Teacher at Archbishop Molloy High School and has been since 1992. He has been the Director of the MBCE-MHVC’s Molloy Freshman Camp, which is a week-long orientation for new students to be introduced to each other and the Marist traditions. In his spare time, Jim volunteers as Personnel Director/Kitchen Director for our summer camps, responsible for all food ordering, addressing any issues that rise, and ensure the success of the Volunteer Cook Program.
Jim received his B.A. from Queens College and his M.S. in Science from St. John’s University. Jim has also been a NYS Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 2000 and is a member of the IAABO Board #119 (Certified Basketball Official) since 1991.
